This shot is all about the texture and those gorgeous, unexpected colour shifts that happen with expired film and a analogue camera. I spotted this lone, vibrant hibiscus blooming against a really dense, dark hedge as the light at dusk and thought the contrast of the colours would make a beautiful image.
the light, film and camera turned the greenery into a deep, moody backdrop, allowing that pop of pink to take centre stage. The heavy grain gives the whole piece a painterly, dreamlike quality that I absolutely love.
 
This image was taken using a Pentax ME Super using expired 35mm colour film from 2006
The image was taken La Morelia coffee farm in Quindio Colombia, Summer 2025.
