Affinity: A Joint Exhibition by Bradley Mallett and Hannah Pratt

A collaboration by old friends sharing one passion

Affinity is a new exhibition showcasing the work of two long-time friends and their shared passion for each other’s complex and meaningful art practices. The show, taking place at the Nolias Gallery between 23-27 October 2024, brings together the work of abstract artists Bradley Mallett and Hannah Pratt, who first met as teenagers. Affinity will invite viewers to explore the parallel evolution of the artists’ journeys over the last 20 years and how their unique perspectives combine to create a stunning collection of works.

Bradley Mallett, whose artistic journey began in landscape painting, now creates vibrant abstract compositions on black canvases. His pieces, infused with musical influences and hidden lyrical elements, deliver layered, emotion-filled worlds of colour and texture formed of a wide range of materials.

Interdisciplinary artist Hannah Pratt merges art with science to create complex pieces inspired by astronomy and climate change. Her "Colour of Starlight" series, which will be featured in the exhibition, demonstrates her unique use of data to translate complex scientific concepts inspired by historic women into visually stunning mixed-media works using textiles and digital techniques.

Affinity will highlight the complementary aspects of their work to explore how both artists embrace colour and texture within their evolving practices to create cosmic landscapes.

“We have developed a deep respect for each other's practice over our long friendship and can’t wait to showcase the parallels that have formed over the years. Affinity is about celebrating this friendship and exploring how our lives cross over creatively.”

The exhibition will run from Wednesday 23 October to Sunday 27 October, with a private view taking place on Thursday 24 October between 6pm-8pm.

The artists would like to thank the Nolias Gallery for hosting their work over the course of the exhibition.

Bradley Mallett is a London-based abstract artist. Bradley studied Fine Art Painting at Bath Spa University and began his art practice as a landscape painter before discovering a love for the colour black. The use of black canvas combined with explosions of texture and colour form the basis of his abstract practice, with inspiration taken from music and lyrics adding yet more depth to his works.
